Jay Humphreys Trio

The Jay Humphreys Trio is a Southern Gospel group that carries on a rich family tradition of music ministry. Jay Humphreys, along with his parents, Jim and Jo Humphreys, began singing together in 1978 as the Good News Singers, later changing the name to The Humphreys Family. They traveled for 26 years, sharing the gospel through their music across the Eastern United States and seeing many lives touched and souls saved. After his mother passed away in 1995, Jay continued the ministry for a short time before taking a break and later joining the Praisemen Quartet. During his time with the Praisemen, Jay had the privilege of performing alongside gospel music greats like Gold City, The Kingsmen, The Inspirations, and many others.

In 2015, Jay returned to singing with his family, this time with his daughters, Cassie and Cloe, and his wife Melanie. The trio is excited to continue the family legacy and minister together as the third generation of what Jay’s parents started more than three decades ago. Jay expresses his gratitude for the blessings God has given him, and the mission of the trio is to uplift others through their music, sharing the gospel message and being instruments for God’s kingdom.

Cassie, who sings the alto part, has been a part of the group since its founding 15 years ago. Starting at just two years old, Cassie’s deep roots in the ministry have shaped her desire to serve and sing for the Lord. Married to Joey Moore, Cassie shares the joy of ministry with her family, and Joey helps with sound and logistics during their travels. Cloe, the soprano of the trio, joined the group full-time in 2018 and is currently balancing her studies at West Virginia State University while continuing to sing with her family. Both Cassie and Cloe are passionate about their mission to use their God-given talents to uplift and serve through song.

JAY

It was 1978 at the age of 15 when Jay first started singing with his Parents, Jim and Jo Humphreys.  They started the Good News Singers which then changed to The Humphreys Family.  They traveled for 26 years singing all over the Eastern part of the United States and seeing many souls saved.  In 1995 his mom went home to be with the Lord.  The Humphreys continued singing for a short time and then came off the road.  After a short break, Jay joined the Praisemen Quartet filling the bass position.  After singing lead for 26 years with his family, this was a big change but very enjoyable.  Jay sang with the Praisemen Quartet for 4 years and he had the privilege to share the stage with many of Gospel Music’s greats such as Gold City, The Kingsmen, Tony Gore, Mark Trammel Trio, The Inspirations, The McKameys, Squire Parsons and many more.  Now, the Lord has opened another door for Jay and his daughters, Cassie and Cloe.  Jay’s wife, Melanie plays a vital role in the family group also.  Jay is excited to be able to travel with his family and states, “It is a privilege to carry on the Humphreys singing tradition with the third generation of what was started over 30 years ago.  I thank God daily for saving my soul and all the many blessings he has given me.  Our mission is to be an instrument for Him for the up-building of His Kingdom and to see people uplifted.  Thank you for your support in our ministry.  God Bless You All!
